Already Heard

It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

(Isaiah 65:24, NJKV)

oneThere are times when life offers us magical moments even when we do not expect them.  Times when you have thought of a friend and just when your mind is thinking of the other person, the phone rings only to find the one you we have been thinking of was also thinking of you.  We call it telepathy and the excitement of that phone call gives us an inner awareness of the connection we hold.  There are also times when we sit with a friend who knows us well, one who is able to anticipate what we might need at a given time.  I can think of being with a friend during a hot day and without asking, the friend orders for your favorite drink or ice-cream with your preferred flavour.  These are moments which help us know we are not alone but are with one who has understanding of who we are and of what is of value to us.

Our reference verse is found amongst words of encouragement in relation to God promises to His people.  The verses speak of God protecting what belongs to His people with an assurance that their heritage is secure in Him.  He reminds us that He knows us so well that He even anticipates what our needs are. It is this divine knowledge which makes Him answer us even before we speak.  He listens to and meets the desires of our hearts even before  we voice them (Psalm 37:4).  God is true to His word and so when our desires align to His will and ways, He promises to meet them.  The idea of a desire being met is profound, it suggests to me that we do not even need to plead for the answer, so long as the desire is in His will, we can count it answered.  God knows the whispers of our hearts so well that no words are needed.  It would appear that the godly desires that our hearts carry are indicators of what He has in place for us. The question what kind of desires do we allow in our hearts?

The bible invites us to call on God with an expectation that He will answer.  That is encouraging especially in moments when our backs are against the wall, when all else seems to fail.  We can stand on the assurance of His word that He will answer us.  He promises to not only answer us but also to teach us great and mighty things which we do not know about (Jeremiah 33:3).  Often when in challenging situations, we struggle to get anyone who understands the cry of our heart.  Jeremiah tells us that God our Father knows much more than we think we know or understand, and so He invites us to call on Him not only for an answer but also for the hidden details relating to the matter.  Beloved, it does not matter what any one of us could be dealing with, we can stand on His word that He is willing to show us what we have no idea of.

In this age of information overload, it is often difficult to get the full picture of a matter but we are comforted in our faith that our Father has the complete details.  Remember that He declares the end from the beginning and therefore there is no matter which will be too hard for Him to decipher.  All He asks of us is that we commit our ways to Him and He will lead us.  Beloved, if there is an issue that no one else knows or wishes to help in, lean in and whisper to our Father, He is ready to answer you.  Yes, at times it looks like He is slow to respond, but let us not give up for we know He is never late and that He response for us will always be perfect.  May we speak to Him more, not only about the complicated issues but also in the seemingly soft desires of our hearts, He knows them even before we ask.  Beloved, approach our Father with the confidence that He has already heard you, for indeed He has.

Thoughts:

When has God answered the desires of your heart?

What do you currently need to speak to Him about?

How has our reference verse encouraged you?
